Memories from a great weekend

Thanks to all the staff and pilots that made this weekend a great success. There were very many aircraft present and a lot of flying. We had more than 200 flights and only one minor crash, 4 dead stick landings that did not made it to the runway and two broken gear situations on the runway. That shows highly skilled pilots and builders, specially when we consider rather windy and gusty flight conditions most of the time.

Hope everybody made it safe back home! Here are pictures for all of you to enjoy.

Last update

We started the first shakedown today. Odd got 5 flights on his new P-47D razorback powered by ZG-38. Lucky me got to be a pilot on the 2 of the flights. What a great machine this is !!! John Arne got his good old mustang ready with a new DA-50 installed. Last, but not least Asle got his 2nd and 1st good flight on his gorgeous ESM P-47D bubbletop powered by an evolution 26.

Just before we left, we were able to paint the centerline and corresponding runway numbers in each end. The airfield is getting ready for its biggest party of the year. I wish you all very welcome.

Cheers to all you warbird fans.

Spitfire getting ready

Last minute painting of a 10th scale spitfire for warbird weekend. For some reason Jørn figured out now is the time to finish it after 3 years!!! ;-)

Weather

We are following the weather very closely. Right now it's very uncertain regarding rain. The three different weather forecast companies we follow do not agree at all. I just want to say that generally the rain in Trøndelag is very intermittent, it very rare that it is raining all day. Links to the three main norwegian weather forecast webpages:

Rigging

All equipment and sponsor agreements are in place. Preparation of the airfield with it's facilities has started. Spectator area rig will be in place by Tuesday evening. We need manpower for rigging it so we would like to see as many as possible in the airfield this evening. Power generators and tents are due to be up and running by Wednesday.

Wish you all a warm welcome to an unforgetable weekend. We are ready to host you Warbird fans !

John Arne alias "Spitfire" is getting ready for Warbird Weekend 2009 maidening his brand new, hyper scale Yellow Aircraft spitfire powered by a DA50 motor. John is a pretty experienced Spitfire pilot so the maiden went as smooth as it can be. Allthough we could see he was nervous, but handled it very well.
